Patients with Special Health Care Needs Resources
Thank you for your interest in dentistry for patients with special health care needs. Dentistry has changed over time, and we now have a greater appreciation of the link between oral health and overall health.
The oral health initiative is excited to share resources which were designed to help you safely care for this underserved population in your office. The content is designed to give you practical information that can be quickly adapted into practice. Equally important are videos which highlight lessons learned by patients and families and examples of direct patient and provider interactions during the dental care process.
For additional information on oral health care for children and adolescents with special health care needs, visit National Maternal and Child Oral Health Resource Center.
Persons with Disability Presentation Series
Penn Dental Medicine’s dental education portal offers a robust calendar of live online and hybrid learning opportunities, as well as a library of self-paced courses that can be accessed at anytime and at the learner’s own pace.
The series is open to dentists and their support personnel at no charge. Dentists completing 18 or more of the courses within a three-year period will receive a certificate of completion from Penn Dental Medicine as a Disabilities Dentistry Clinician Expert.
