From a house fire to a national bioterrorism threat, children are exposed to traumatic situations every day. Children look to their caregivers for help in dealing with these and other difficult situations. Children are afraid for their safety and the safety of their friends and family. Medical and mental health professionals are working to make sure children's questions are answered openly and honestly as they are assured of their safety.
The Alliance along with Children's Hospital and Health System, Poison Control Center and the Children's Health Education Center created 12 educational modules for primary care clinicians, nurses, EMS, first responders, social workers, teachers, child care providers and others caring for children. These educational modules help prepare individuals to respond to traumatic events that affect children, including bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks and other emergencies.
These modules were developed through a federal grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA).
